Anyone with a desire to help others and to learn more about New Vision should attend. There are many volunteer opportunities available. New Vision extends thanks to EVERYONE contributing to New Vision’s annual Freedom Ride and Family Fun Day held at Curtis Park on Sept.,13, 2008. Everyone involved enjoyed this great day of fun and fellowship! The event was a great success and everyone’s hard work was greatly appreciated.

Christmas Program - Gift Cards Needed!

Wow! Can you believe the Christmas season is upon us!!!! New Vision’s Christmas Gift Program fills in the gap, so that no child feels neglected at Christmas time. Toys for Tots provides gifts for younger children; however, the 13-18 year olds often fall through the cracks. To those children, we send a $15.00 gift card from Target or Walmart. New Vision is in need of gift cards to assist in meeting the needs of these children. We are trying to start organizing the Christmas program now, so your donation may be given as soon as possible. Please contact Traci Reynolds at (540)361-1823 if you can be of assistance.

Some people may find the desire to adopt a family for Christmas. The five women living at the residence, as well as their children, are the New Vision family. Won’t you consider adopting one or all of these women and their families this Christmas? Please contact Traci at (540)361-1823 if you are interested.

Additionally, New Vision works with those women facing long-term incarceration. During the Christmas season, these women may order special holiday consignment packs from the institution in which they are incarcerated. Consignment packs consist of special goodies such as soups, candy, herbal teas, hot chocolate, etc. The cost of a consignment pack is $75.00. If you would like to sponser a consignment pack for one of these women, please contact Traci at (540)361-1823.

A very special welcome to new client Penny!

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she embarks upon this exciting phase of her new life journey with New Vision.

New Vision is seeking part-time Volunteer Resident Managers.

Resident Manager shifts needing coverage are: Friday (7pm-7am), Saturday (7am-7pm & 7pm-7am), and Sunday 7am-6pm. Please note that overnight shifts do not require you to stay awake for the duration of the shift. This is an excellent opportunity for you to share with, minister to, and encourage the women of New Vision. If you feel a longing in your heart to help women, this is the perfect opportunity! Please contact Traci at traci@newvisva.org if you are interested.

Special thanks goes out to the Diversion Center for all of the yard work they completed last week!

Lisa Thomas, the founder and Director of New Vision, will be speaking at several locations during the month of October including St James Episcopal Church in Louisa (10/5), The Friends of Forest Lake Group (10/9), the Governor’s Counsel for Reentry at Coffeewood (10/16), the Annual Episcopal Woman’s Gathering (10/21) and First Christian Church (10/25). Mrs. Thomas is available to give presentations of the New Vision program to churches, women’s groups, and civic organizations. If your group is interested in this, please contact Lisa Thomas at lisa@newvisva.org
